Checking our values align
We all have values that shape how we live and work. To create a genuinely inclusive and respectful space for us both, I ask that you share mine.
I’m an intersectional feminist and believe that:
- Trans and intersex lives matter. Trans women are women. Trans men are men.
- Non-binary and queer identities are valid, as are those beyond the binary.
- Love is love regardless of colour, gender and sexuality.
- Immigrant lives matter and diversity adds value to society.
- Fuck the patriarchy. Fuck toxic masculinity.
- Black lives matter, and systemic and institutional racism exists.
- Polyamory, ethical non-monogamy and sex work are all valid choices — not footnotes, not edge cases, not something to be merely tolerated.
- Climate change, COVID, sizeism and ableism are all real issues.
- Neurodivergence and chronic illness are not problems to be fixed. You are not broken. The system is.
If you believe I’m wrong about any of the above, my work, time and energy aren’t for you. If you’re nodding along — welcome. You’re in the right place.
How I show up as a coach
My values don’t stop at politics. They shape how I work, too.
- Confidentiality matters. What you share in sessions stays between us. I’ll always be transparent about the limits of that.
- Your pace, not mine. I won’t push you towards a particular outcome, identity, or way of being. This is your journey.
- Sustainability over hustle. I’m not here to help you optimise, grind harder, or squeeze more productivity out of yourself. Rest is valid. Progress doesn’t have to hurt. If you’ve been told to just push through — I’m offering something different.
- Accessibility is important to me. If cost, energy, or other barriers are a concern, please mention it when we chat. I’d rather have that conversation than have it stop you reaching out.
On getting things wrong
Values and beliefs we once held aren’t necessarily the ones we hold now. If you ever look back at something you said or did and cringe — that’s growth. Genuinely.
I wouldn’t be a coach if I didn’t believe in our capacity to do the work, and that includes me. I know I’ve benefitted from being white in ways I’m still uncovering, for example, and that means I’ll sometimes get things wrong. We’re all fallible human beings.
When I do get something wrong, I try my best to learn and not repeat the mistake. If you see me slipping up, please gently point it out — and if you have the capacity — point me towards a trusted resource.
